Product Details
Polyvinyl chloride is a white powder with an amorphous structure. It is non-toxic and odorless. Its relative density is approximately 1.4, and its glass transition temperature ranges from 77 to 90 degrees Celsius. The molecular weight of industrial products is usually within the range of 50,000 to 110,000. It is a non-crystalline polymer and has poor stability to light and heat. It is prone to decomposition and color change at temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius or under long-term exposure to sunlight. Therefore, stabilizers need to be added in practical applications. In 2017, it was included in the World Health Organization's list of category 3 carcinogens (i.e., substances for which the carcinogenicity to humans has not been classified based on existing evidence).
Main applications
Depending on the amount of plasticizer added, PVC can be classified into two categories: rigid and flexible. It has a wide range of applications:
Hard products (without or with a small amount of plasticizers added):
Building materials: Used for manufacturing window and door profiles, special profiles, wall panels and floor tiles, and often used as an alternative to aluminum alloy and wood.
Piping system: Widely used in water supply pipes, drainage pipes, electrical conduit, and stair handrails.
Soft products (with a large amount of plasticizers added):
Film and Packaging: Transparent films are produced through calendering or blow molding processes and are used in agricultural greenhouses, shrink packaging bags, raincoats, tablecloths, etc.
Cables and Daily Goods: Used for manufacturing insulation sheaths of wires and cables, automotive parts, toys, imitation leather products (such as suitcases, sofa cushions), and sole materials for sandals, etc.
Other applications:
Coatings and foaming materials: They can be used to make floor leathers, artificial leathers, or combined with foaming agents to produce foam slippers, shoe insoles and cushioning packaging materials.
Hard sheet material: It is made into hard sheet through hot pressing. By using hot air welding, it can be processed into industrial equipment such as chemical-resistant storage tanks and air ducts.
